Coasters Publication
August 2009
August
is a bit of a turning point. The year’s more than halfway over,
the tropics will soon make life a tad more interesting for us, the
kids are heading back to school, and Football Season is just
around the corner. We’re looking forward to seeing you come out to
support your favorite team! We’ll have the same great (if not
better!) food and beer that you’ve come to expect, twelve
televisions and every football sports package that we can find.
Rewinding
to two Saturdays ago, we’d like to thank everyone who stopped by
for our Craft Beer Tasting on July 25th. We
ended up pouring hundreds of samples of some of the best beer
that’s ever been tapped in this county. It seemed as everyone had
a great time; we certainly did! Stay tuned to your Coasters
Publication or
Coastersbrewpub.com for future beer tastings.
If
you missed our beer event last month, don’t fret, as we have
another amazing draught beer release planned for you this month:
The 13th Anniversary Showdown: Lagunitas vs. Stone –
August 13th
Thirteen years ago in California, two daring breweries
started their operations: Stone Brewing in San Diego, and
Lagunitas Brewing in Petaluma, which is 40 miles North of San
Francisco. Both of these well-respected breweries are known for
producing bold, assertive beers and, to this day, they both
continue to push the limits of brewing. Each year, both breweries
brew an Anniversary Ale to commemorate another year in
business.
Many craft brewers use their Anniversary Ales to showcase
their brewing prowess, and these beers are no exception.
The Stone and Lagunitas Anniversary Ales are quite hard to
find on draught, especially on the East Coast. Only six
kegs of Stone 13th Anniversary and just sixteen
kegs of Lagunitas “Lucky 13” made their way into the
Sunshine State. If my math works out, that’s barely one keg per
million Floridians.
Both beers are Imperial Red Ales, a flavorful, and high
octane combination of malt and hops. Stone Brewing claims that
they used the more hops per barrel to brew this 13th
Anniversary Ale than in any other beer they’ve ever brewed. Both
beers are getting fantastic ratings among Californian beer geeks,
so if you’re a fan of bold, flavorful beers you will not
want to miss these creations! So, where could one find such
special and elusive brews?
Well...
Starting Thursday, August 13th you’ll
find Stone 13th and Lagunitas Lucky 13 on
tap at Coasters Pub. Due to huge demand and rarity, these are
likely the only kegs of these beers ever to make their way into
our county, so try them while they last!
Monday Night
Trivia Season 3 is Winding Down
We’d like to thank this season’s Monday Night Trivia teams for
making this season the most memorable so far. We’re in Week 11
out of 12 for this season’s league, and it looks like The
Monkey Fighters have clinched the 1st place spot in
this season’s game, while The Bulldogs and Jagertron
are both neck-and neck, battling for second place.
It’s been a great season filled with fun, music, and the
celebration of absolutely obscure and trivial information. While
this season will be over in a scant few weeks, we’ll be
re-starting the trivial madness shortly! Stay tuned for details!
If you haven’t joined us yet, this will be your chance to get a
group of friends together and answer questions such as:
“How many teams in the four professional sports leagues (MLB,
NFL, NBA and NHL) are based outside the continental United
States?”
Live Music
Fridays
Every Friday night, we’re still bringing you some of the best live
music you’ll find beachside. All music on Friday nights start at
8:30pm. Here’s our lineup for the remainder of the month:
